Americans Loosing Multiple Freedoms But Not Liberty

As an American, we get to enjoy the benefits of two worlds in a sense. One is that we can enjoy the freedoms of Christ if we are born-again believers and two is the freedom we get from living in America to include worship, speech, and even life itself. Our freedoms are great but taken for granted and slowly erode away. While we are commanded to not be a part of this world, we were born into a great country and have inherited those freedoms.

America is a society seen by our freedom in entrepreneurship. Even countries such as communist China have realized this over the years and moved more toward a free-market society. While the market works, any society will crash when not only the leaders become entrenched in self (greed) but moreover when Christian leaders and by default their members turn their back and freedom will cease. With the continued demoralization, we will loose our freedoms.

Johnnie Moore, VP for communications at Liberty University stated on twitter several days ago, “America’s decline in charitable giving began 3 years before the recession (2005).Declining generosity was a precursor to financial collapse.” The sad fact is we attribute many things to business, money, and numbers within the Christian community. While it would be nice to say that the lack of giving gave over to the collapse, the recession didn’t just say “Bam. Thank you mam. It’s 2008 and I recess thee.” The decreased financial giving could have been very well attributed to the collapsing economy that started years prior and the failing economy was the precursor to lowered charitable giving not the other way around.

In Judges 10, we see a nation that turned their back on God. “Yet you have forsaken Me and served other gods; therefore I will no longer deliver you.” God warned them but they didn’t receive it and He abandoned them. In Romans the Word says, “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,”NASB®

The greater problem is the moral bankruptcy of the Church. This could indeed be not only a precursor but the cause of our financial instability as a country and individually. God has abandoned our nation as we abandoned God by having but rejecting the Truth of God. History shows that nations will fall away. In our rejection and suppression of Truth, we lose freedom.

But we have hope. “Oh that My people would listen to Me, That Israel would walk in My ways! “I would quickly subdue their enemies And turn My hand against their adversaries. “Those who hate the Lord would pretend obedience to Him, And their time of punishment would be forever. “ But I would feed you with the finest of the wheat, And with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.” Psalm 81:13-16 NASB®. If we will humble ourselves, pray, and turn from our wickedness and suppression of truth, God will restore us and forgive us of our sins and heal this land. It starts on a relational, Christ-loving level.

The one freedom that no man or power can take away is our freedom in Christ.
